Some students prefer working in small groups of two to three participants. A benefit of knowing the other students in the group or being with their friends is that they feel more relaxed in a familiar social setting and are more likely to speak up and share their doubts and ideas among like-minded peers.

Often the students will explain unclear concepts to each other. This not only enables them to master these, but also helps them grow their self-confidence.

Our role as tutors in such a setting is to help the students with difficult concepts and guide them in an organised manner to a specific learning outcome by providing them with focused tasks.

This dynamic and flexible format is also popular for ad hoc or last-minute revisions and is generally not to be found on the calendar of prescheduled courses. The revision sessions are usually initiated by students one or two weeks before an upcoming test or an assignment deadline. Most common topics are functions, logs, trigonometry, calculus, etc., depending on the math level or an internal assessment.
